Many might be familiar with the character Ahsoka, who has previously appeared in The Mandalorian series during season 2. She is a formidable force, wielding lightsabers and ancestral knowledge of the ways of the Jedi. 

Previously, she also appeared in The Book of Boba Fett as well. However, the character of Ahsoka Tano was fascinating enough to have her very own series it seems. It is interesting that she was one of the very first characters to make the transition from Star Wars animation to live-action within the actual Mandoverse. 

Actress Rosario Dawson has portrayed the character and many have come to adore her efforts on screen so far. She is tough, intelligent and of course she has a distinctive look being a Togruta female and is quite Force-sensitive. Her skin stands out being bright with pigmentation and large cranial appendages which are known as montrals. This helps to distinguish the Togruta from other species in the universe.

This means that she, along with other sentient or non-sentient lifeforms, possess a deep connection to the mystical energy known as the Force in the Star Wars universe of characters. Her backstory dates back to when she was first discovered on her home-world of Shili.

It was Jedi Master Plo Koon who brought Ahsoka to Coruscant. It was there where she received her initial Jedi training. Originally, Ahsoka was introduced as a 14-year-old Jedi Padawan of Anakin Skywalker back during 2008. Her character bestowed more of a support type of a role during the animated series origination. 

Some other interesting footnotes about Ahsoka, she did fight alongside the famed character of  Chewbacca, a powerful Wookiee Rebel and later sidekick to Han Solo. Some might not know that her headband is of great importance. The triangular shaped pieces are akul teeth – they are more of a token or trophy of sorts, for single-handedly defeating predatory animals back on the Togruta homeworld. 

Some fans speculate that her teeth are poisonous. This is due to the Togruta having an appetite for a rodent known as thimiar on their planet. They are able to bite and kill these without much effort. These rodents seem to die from spasms after death due to the poison from the Togruta teeth. 

Other speculations are, Togruta are far more athletic and have better balance than humans do comparably. George Lucas (creator / director / writer of Star Wars) decided to move the story of The Clone Wars into the middle of the main Star Wars saga which gained more traction. 

With the upcoming series, the character of Ahsoka Tano will become the central focus of the show. It will pick up after Ahsoka left the Jedi Order during the Clone Wars. The next protagonist is Sabine Wren who will be portrayed by Natasha Liu Bordizzo in Ahsoka, replacing the voice actress Tiya Sircar from Rebels. 

Mary Elizabeth Winstead will take on the character of Hera Syndulla who is a Twi’lek pilot and the co-leader of the Ghost crew. She also did serve as a general for the Rebel Alliance during the Galactic Civil War.

Actor Ray Stevenson also will be in the series as Baylan. He is a Force-sensitive dark warrior with his allegiance being with the Empire and Grand Admiral Thrawn. It is assumed he is either a Sith warrior or more of an Imperial Inquisitor. 

The series will take place in the New Republic era five or so years after The Return of the Jedi happened. Star Wars fans eagerly await to see what happens next. Both Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni are behind this creation.
